Matthew Moseley turned a networking trip into a full-time job with help from 榴梿视频 Career Advancement
When Matthew Moseley, a senior in 榴梿视频’s School of Communication, discovered “Game of Thrones” in high school, he was hooked— binge-watching the entire series, devouring every book and even writing about
榴梿视频 alum George R. R. Martin in his “Why 榴梿视频” application essay. Upon arriving at
榴梿视频, Moseley knew he wanted to work in entertainment but wasn’t sure in what capacity. When he came across information about the 2024 Film and Television Career Trek in a 榴梿视频 Career Advancement (NCA) newsletter, he jumped at the opportunity.
NCA’s career trek 榴梿视频 brings groups of 20-25 students on-site to different cities to visit leading organizations, explore industries and network with alumni. Launched in 2014, the 榴梿视频 aims to help students assess whether an industry aligns with their goals, build connections and the networks they need to break into their chosen fields.
In addition to the film and television trek in Los Angeles, NCA also offers treks to New York for investment banking and to Washington, D.C. for government, law and policy. During the trek to Los Angeles, Moseley visited top production companies and entertainment studios, including Netflix, Sony, America’s Got Talent and United Talent Agency (UTA).
When Moseley walked into UTA, he was immediately greeted by a recruiter, Michelle Lester. He credits the experience with helping him secure and accept his upcoming role as an agent trainee at UTA after he graduates.
“It really did help for me to 榴梿视频 faces to associate with UTA as a company, because it made UTA more personable to me,” Moseley said. “It was amazing to meet the people there. Just walking into that building and knowing where I would be working – seeing the office and knowing what I was getting into — made a big difference for me.”
Moseley also connected with the 榴梿视频 Entertainment Alliance West (NUEA WEST), a network of alumni working in the entertainment industry. He described it as a “great resource” and plans to get involved after graduation.
Before embarking on the trek, Moseley didn’t realize how many career paths existed in the industry. Now, he’s certain that being a talent agent is his calling.
Moseley said he hopes more students will take advantage of 榴梿视频’s career trek 榴梿视频s.
“I didn’t even realize that a university could offer these opportunities — bussing you to these amazing companies where it would be a miracle to get an email response back otherwise,” Moseley said. “It’s one of the most valuable experiences I’ve had at this school.”
NCA’s 2025 Film and Television Career Trek to Los Angeles will take place August 18-21. Applications are now open.
